#1 Gray is a ready-to-use, non-fluorescent dry magnetic particle powder that gives strong contrast on most metal surfaces during dry method magnetic particle testing in visible light. It detects surface and slightly subsurface discontinuities in ferrous metals, and does not require a black light or darkened inspection area.

Apply a fine layer to the test area with a powder dispensing device, such as a powder spray bulb or powder blower, while the magnetising current is applied. If there is excessive background, gently blow off the excess powder while the current is still flowing. On material with high magnetic retentivity, indications can still form after the current has been turned off. A magnetising device is required. This listing is for the 10 lb (4.53kg) pail.

  • Sharp colour-contrast indications on highly reflective surfaces
  • Ready to use
  • Good particle buildup for quick detection
  • Highly refined for optimal particle shape and size combination
  • Minimal dust build-up
  • Does not require a black light or darkened inspection area
